Excessive sweating, known as hyperhidrosis, goes beyond what the body needs to regulate temperature, and it often continues no matter how strong an antiperspirant you use. It can soak through clothing, cause staining and odour, and quietly affect confidence at work and socially.

Anti-sweating injections offer a reliable, long-lasting solution. By calming the overactive sweat glands in the treated area, most commonly the underarms, they dramatically reduce sweating for months at a time. The treatment is quick, well tolerated, and lets you get on with your day without the constant worry of visible sweat marks. At Āatma Aesthetics London, every treatment is administered by a GMC-registered doctor inside our CQC-registered clinic at The O2, Greenwich.

The Approach

Dry, Confident, and in Control

Treatment begins with a brief assessment to confirm the area and the pattern of your sweating. Dr Shaan then places a series of small injections across the treated area so the effect is even and complete, rather than patchy. The medicine works locally, only where it is placed, so the rest of your body continues to sweat and regulate temperature normally.

Within a week or two the treated area becomes markedly drier, and that dryness holds for many months before a simple top-up is needed.

How anti-sweating injections work

Calm the Glands, Stay Dry

Sweating is triggered when a nerve signal tells the sweat glands to switch on. In hyperhidrosis, this happens far more than the body needs. Anti-sweating injections use a prescription medicine that temporarily blocks that signal in the treated area, so the glands there produce much less sweat.

Because the medicine acts only where it is injected, sweating elsewhere is unaffected and the body still regulates its temperature normally. A series of small injections covers the area evenly, the treatment takes around 20 to 30 minutes, and there is no downtime. The effect builds over the first week or two and then lasts for many months.

Treatment is administered by Dr Shaan Patel at our doctor-led clinic inside The O2 in London.

Is Anti-Sweating Treatment Right for You?

Anti-sweating injections are ideal for:

-Excessive underarm sweating that soaks through clothing

-Sweating that continues despite strong antiperspirants

-Sweat marks, staining, or odour affecting your confidence

-Sweating made worse by stress, heat, or social situations

-Wanting reliable dryness for work, events, and daily life

If your sweating is sudden, recent, or affects much of the body, it can occasionally point to an underlying medical cause. Dr Shaan will review this with you at consultation before any treatment.

Meet Dr Shaan Patel

Dr Shaan founded Āatma after years of medical training at the University of Southampton and clinical experience across hospitals in the UK and Australia. That foundation shapes how he practises aesthetic medicine: methodical, anatomically led, and conservative.

His approach is built on a simple rule - treat what's in front of you, not what's in fashion. That means honest consultations, treatment plans that prioritise long-term face shape over short-term fixes, and a willingness to say "no, not yet" or "no, not this" when it's the right answer.

"My goal is to keep you looking like you - naturally refreshed, never overdone."

What Clients Say About Their Results

FAQ

Got questions?
We’ve got answers

Does it actually stop the sweating?

It dramatically reduces it. Most clients find the treated area becomes reliably dry rather than completely without any sweat, which is the intended and healthy outcome. The difference is usually dramatic compared with antiperspirants alone.

Does it hurt?

Discomfort is minimal. The injections are very superficial and use a fine needle, so most people describe only brief small pinches across the area. There is no downtime, and you can return to your day straight away.

How soon will it work and how long does it last?

Most people notice the area becoming drier within the first week, with the full effect by around two weeks. Results for the underarms commonly last between six and twelve months, after which a simple top-up maintains the effect.

Is there any downtime or aftercare?

No real downtime. For the first 24 hours, avoid strenuous exercise, hot baths, and saunas, and avoid antiperspirants on the treated area for a day or so. Dr Shaan will give you full aftercare guidance at your appointment.

Will I sweat more somewhere else instead?

The treatment only affects the area injected, and the body continues to regulate its temperature normally through the rest of the skin. Some people are slightly more aware of normal sweating elsewhere, but it does not cause a harmful build-up of heat.

Can areas other than the underarms be treated?

Yes. The underarms are the most common area, but excessive sweating of the palms, soles, and forehead or scalp can also be treated. Suitability, technique, and pricing vary by area, so Dr Shaan will discuss the right plan for you at consultation.
